Brad Pitt is set to reprise his role as Cliff Booth from Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, in a new spin-off directed by David Fincher. The film, titled The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, has been announced by Netflix. It will follow Booth, a Hollywood stuntman with a mysterious past, as he maneuvers through a transforming film industry.
The script for the upcoming movie was penned by Quentin Tarantino, although he will not be directing the project. Tarantino, who has a repertoire of acclaimed works including Pulp Fiction and Django Unchained, previously expressed that he wished to avoid having his final directorial venture be a sequel, despite his enthusiasm for Booth’s story. The narrative will take place in 1977, eight years after the original film’s events, and will delve into Booth’s adaptation to a significantly altered Hollywood landscape.
David Fincher, known for directing films such as Fight Club, Zodiac, and The Social Network, takes the helm for this spin-off. His involvement brings a fresh creative perspective to the project. Fincher has also worked on popular Netflix series like House of Cards and Mindhunter, showcasing his versatility and experience in both film and television.
The film boasts a star-studded cast alongside Brad Pitt, including Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Matt Groove, JB Tadena, Corey Fogelmanis, and Karren Karagulian. This ensemble cast promises to bring a dynamic energy to the sequel, which follows the success of the original Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, where Pitt starred alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie.
Audiences can look forward to a two-week global IMAX run commencing on November 25, with the film hitting Netflix for streaming on December 23. The return of Cliff Booth signifies a major reunion with Tarantino’s iconic character, while Fincher’s direction offers a distinctly new angle on the beloved story.
